Denver is the capitol city of the state of Colorado, nestled just east of the Rocky Mountains.  Denver's climate offers a full four seasons: hot and sunny summers, warm and lingering falls, cool and sometimes-snowy winters, and brief rainy springs.  Denverites enjoy an average of 250 sunshiny days each year!

Like many western American cities, Denver's history is a colorful one -- a saga of "booms and busts" peopled by cowboys and Indians, miners and farmers, laborers and entrepreneurs, flamboyant politicians and eccentric socialites.  For decades, Denver's economy was based on its agricultural and mining industries.  Many of the old mountain towns west of Denver are testaments to the mining boom of the late 1800's.

A pleasant climate, healthy lifestyle, and diverse economic opportunities have attracted people to the city of Denver throughout its history.  In the 1970's the city's fortunes were suddenly bolstered by a booming oil and energy sector, which then deflated in a hurry, leaving the city in rather depressed conditions in the late 1980's.  Since then, however, Denver has rebounded, seeing spectacular growth, to become one of the high tech centers of the nation.  Financial and investment firms, telecommunications and high-tech companies, and all kinds of start-up businesses have moved to Denver to take advantage of a well-educated Denver workforce.  Since the early 1990's, hundreds of thousands of people have moved to Denver from other areas, attracted by relatively reasonable real estate values and an enviable quality of life.

Denver today vibrates with energy and economic well being.  Tourism, Colorado's number one industry, brings millions of people to the state each year -- to visit the city of Denver, various other cities and towns, the breathtaking Rocky Mountains and, of course, Colorado's world-renowned ski resorts.  A new airport (Denver International Airport) and Convention Center have helped attract new business to the city.  Where the Denver Broncos football team (note: two time Super bowl champions!) was once the city's only major professional sports franchise, they're now joined by the Denver Nuggets basketball team, the Colorado Rockies baseball team, the Colorado Avalanche hockey team and the Colorado Rapids soccer team.

Culture and education thrive here as well.  The $100 million Denver Performing Arts Complex -- offering theater, ballet, symphony, traveling Broadway shows, and other musical events -- has become an important part of the metro area entertainment menu.  Long established attractions such as the Denver Museum of Natural History, the Denver Zoo, the Colorado History Museum, and the Denver Art Museum have recently been joined by new and novel offerings such as the Butterfly Pavilion and the Ocean Journey aquarium.  Colorado also offers numerous institutions of higher education, including the University of Colorado, the University of Denver, and Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

In short, Denver and its surrounding suburbs comprise a thriving, busy, and interesting city full of people who seem always on the go.  We invite you to come and visit.  You just might find you would like stay.
